Background
For almost thirty years Georgina has been restoring and conserving painted and gilt furniture.

After leaving Camberwell Art school in the late 80’s she took an apprenticeship with Koenig and Newton in London. Roger Newton had himself trained with the original Colefax and Fowler workshops, and his mentorship helped to build the solid foundation of Georgina's knowledge.
Georgina's Story
“In those days an apprenticeship started with interminable weeks of washing brushes before being allowed to move on to paint pattern boards!”
From learning how to paint freehand straight lines, gesso mixing, clays, glazes, colours, specific brush strokes, trompe l’oeil, marbling techniques to faux wood finishes and the cleaning and repair process, she gained a versatile skillset that remains invaluable.
“Looking back I realise that such training was a rarity even then, and I am immensely grateful for that time."

The 80’s and 90’s were a sort of hay-day for antiques, especially in London. An amazing range of very beautiful and varied pieces were coming through the workshops from the likes of the Pimlico Green Antiques dealers and the large auction houses. Chinoiserie, lacquer and painted 17th century furniture was ‘in’, the result was a treasure trove of knowledge and experience to be had.
Georgina then spent time in other London Studios and also worked with Interior decorators to form teams for large scale site works including The Dorchester Hotel and Highclere Castle, before moving to the South West.
